Seattle then remained in the lead for the rest of the first half, adding points for 3 successful penalty kicks and a try thanks to Dan Kriel dragging 3 opponents across the finish line, despite the Seawolves also losing a player for 10 minutes to the “sin bin” with a yellow card offense.

Kara Pryor earned his first Seawolves cap at the match and celebrated with the first try of the second half at 52 minutes, which was quickly added to by Captain Riekert Hattingh who also crossed the white line to add the 3rd try to the Seawolves score at the 55th minute.

The Free Jacks fought back earning a penalty try, an automatic 7 points and matching the Seawolves with a 3rd converted try to take their score to 21, while the seawolves were again down a formidable player in Joe Taufete’e who was also handed a yellow card and 10 minutes in the Sin Bin at the 68th minute mark. Seattle’s Head Coach, Allen Clarke had this to say. “The boy’s were magnificent. Our prep was excellent so this win is for the whole squad. We knew we had to be close to our best on both sides of the ball, so it’s very pleasing to deliver a quality performance like we did today.”
Mack Mason received the league’s Player of the Match accolade and Rhyno Herbst earned his 50th MLR cap with this win on the road. This particular win against the Free Jacks tastes even sweeter as the team return home with “the Coffee Cup” title and trophy to add to their mantle piece, evening out the score at two titles each. The Seawolves remain undefeated on the road and can now take a well deserved break with a bye week on the calendar.
Seawolves remain the top performing Seattle sports team with their 2024, 7-1-0 record and with previous notable results; 2018 & 2019 back to back MLR champions, 2022 Western Conference Champions, 2023 semi-final winners and now the best team in the league with their current 33 championship points.
