Seawolves Just Shy of Win, Earn Losing Bonus Point Against Austin
February 26, 2022 (TUKWILA, WASHINGTON) – The Seattle Seawolves hosted the Austin Gilgronis (3-0) at Starfire Stadium. Both sides entered Week 4 undefeated and after 80 minutes of strategic kicking and wet conditions, Austin was able to find the try zone one more time than Seattle. 25-18 Austin.
• Fullback Duncan Matthews scored his second try of the season while Lock Rhyno Herbst scored his first
• Seawolf #21 Tim Metcher earned his 50th cap for the Seawolves, becoming the first player to reach the appearance milestone for the Club and only second player in MLR to do so
• Tough conditions and a lack of momentum simmered the Seawolves attack, while Austin was able to capitalize on counter attack and turnover opportunities
• The Seawolves move to a 3-1 record, but collect a critical bonus point with Herbst’s end of the match score that narrowed the score line within 7
