Seattle Seawolves Host First Talent Identification Camp to Find Local Talent
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON (July 16, 2021) – The Seattle Seawolves are proud to host their first Talent Identification Camp to find local emerging men’s players ready for the professional game and contribute their skills to the Major League Rugby franchise in the near future.
The Talent Identification Camp will take place on August 7 and 8 from 7:00 AM AM to 10:00 AM at Starfire Stadium. This camp is focused on finding more localized talent in the Pacific Northwest, and searching for coachable players who are willing to learn and primed to compete at the next level.
The Washington camp will be run by Seattle Seawolves head coach and director of rugby, Allen Clarke. The two camp sessions will include a series of different exercises that players will rotate through, including but not limited to, combine testing, testing core rugby skills under pressure, a classroom session, and then a rugby match. This will give the coaches an opportunity to see the players perform from a variety of different backgrounds, and test them for a variety of skills on the pitch.
“The goal behind these camps is to identify regional talent and continue to grow the team. We have seen the benefit of bringing in players from our own backyard already, such as Seawolves wing, Lauina Futi, who signed with us in June. He is a product of the local rugby scene, and has emerged as one of the top performers with his athleticism and talent on the pitch. Lauina is a great example of the type of player that the Seawolves will have their eye on during these Talent Identification Camps in Washington and beyond”, says Pate Tuilevuka, general manager of the Seawolves. Learn more about Lauina Futi here.
Additional Talent Identification Camps will be hosted in:
- Oregon
- California
- Idaho
- Alaska
- Hawaii
