Montgomery Rises to Major League Rugby Ranks, Added to Seattle Extended Roster
Tukwila, Wash. — The Seattle Seawolves have added former Seattle Saracen and Washington Athletic Club Rugby Athlete, Joe Montgomery, to their extended roster.
The Oregon native played for the Linn Benton Lions under coach Joe Alvernaz throughout his youth and high school career. After high school, he headed up
to Seattle to play more competitively and, while doing so, attended Seattle Central Community College. Montgomery initially continued his trade with
the Eastside Axeman while in school and eventually became an athletic member of the Washington Athletic Club (WAC) for rugby sevens. The forward shifted
gears to fifteens after his first summer with the WAC 7s and began to pick up minutes with the Seattle Saracens against consistent Canadian competition
in the British Columbia Rugby Union Men’s Division I and Premiership league. Montgomery is a hard-working, front row athlete that will only progress
further in the professional environment while supplementing the Seawolves’ forward pack.
“I’m excited and humbled to be a part of the Seawolves,” said Montgomery. “Time to get to work!”
The Seattle Seawolves kick off their regular season on the road in San Diego, February 9, with a 2:00 pm PT kick off against the Legion. Full season, half season, and single game tickets for Seattle’s home games can be purchased at www.seattleseawolves.com.
