Local Front Rower Henson Rejoins Seawolves for 2021
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON (March 17, 2021) – The Seattle Seawolves have signed Seattle Rugby Club and former Seawolves hooker Louie Henson for the 2021
Major League Rugby (MLR) season.
Henson officially began his rugby career in 2010 with local Rugby Washington club, the Rainier Highlanders, while competing as a football player for Auburn
High School. He also represented Washington State with the Loggers in 2012 before committing to Western Washington University (WWU) for both school
and rugby. After his freshman year, he was a Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference (NCRC) 1st team selection and went on to captain the team from 2013
to 2017. During that time, he excelled as their tight head prop and helped lead the Vikings to winning three NCRC titles and four national tournament
appearances. After graduating, Henson spent time overseas with the Henley Hawks competing in the National 2 League South in England. Returning back
home, Henson joined Seattle Rugby Club in 2017 where he continued to grow. In 2018, Henson was signed to the Seawolves for the inaugural MLR season.
The hooker made two MLR appearances in wins over Austin and Glendale, contributing to Seattle’s first championship season.
Although he was not re-signed in 2019, Henson returned to his home club at Seattle Rugby Club to continue to develop in the British Columbia Premiership
competition. We are excited to welcome Henson back to the pack ahead of Major League Rugby 2021 to add depth to our front row and his technical skillset
to our set piece. “I am honored to be able to take the field with some absolute legends of the game. I am thrilled to be able to continue my career
at home in front of the best fans in rugby,” said Henson. “I’m just blessed to join a great organization, and to play some good rugby.”
The 2021 MLR season
is set to kick off March 20, 2021 with the Seawolves on the road to face the Houston SaberCats for a 5:00 pm PT kick off on CBS Sports Network as the
MLR Game of the Week. Follow us on Facebook
