Eagle Prop Moungaloa Arrives in Seattle, Reinforces Seawolves Front Row
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON (April 5, 2021) – The Seattle Seawolves have signed USA Eagle and former Utah Warriors prop, Huluholo Moungaloa.
Originally from Kolovai, Tonga, a move to the United States opened up chances to compete at some of the highest levels an American can. Huluholo’s competitive
career really kicked off at St. Mary’s College, where he played for the historic college program from 2011-14 while earning his degree in Communication
and Media Studies. Moungaloa joins Aaron Matthews and Henry Hall as the third St. Mary’s alumni to join the Seawolves. After college, he suited up
with San Francisco Golden Gate Rugby Club before shifting to Life West Rugby Club and playing in the Pacific Rugby Premiership competition. Moungaloa
was with Life West until 2018, and in 2017, he was selected to the USA Islanders side to face the Saracens in Bermuda. That Fall, he was then selected
to the USA Selects and faced Germany. Strong showings from the prop made it an easy decision in 2018 for the US coaches to call Moungaloa into the
Senior side for the Americas Rugby Championship and became capped Eagle No. 515. Moungaloa scored his first try in the US’ victory over Brazil. He debuted in Major League Rugby with the Utah Warriors
in 2019 and was re-signed to their team for 2020 before the global pandemic cancelled the season. The prop adds more experienced coverage to the Seawolves
front row and strong ball carrying skills for the 2021 season.
“I appreciate the chance to join the reigning MLR champions,” said Moungaloa. “And I am excited to get back to playing in the Major League Rugby competition.”
The Seattle Seawolves return to regular season play this weekend after a BYE, traveling to Salt Lake City to face the Utah Warriors (2-1). Kick off at Zions Bank Stadium will be at 6:00 PM PT on Saturday, April 10. Viewers inside the United States can tune in live on ROOT SPORTS and The Rugby Network. Viewers outside of the United States, including Japanese rugby fans, can tune in live on The Rugby Network.
