Brennan Back for 2020 After Season Abroad, Added to Extended Roster
Seattle, Wash. — The Seattle Seawolves have added former All-American and Seattle Viking, Matt Brennan, to their 2020 extended roster.
Brennan is another local product that showcases what is possible when domestic athletes find the game young. Starting in middle school, Brennan spent
six years with the Seattle Vikings learning the game. Once in high school, further opportunities began to knock as he suited up for the Washington
Loggers all-state side all four years. Strong performances with his home and state clubs propelled him onto the High School All-American scene
for fifteens and sevens. Brennan’s rugby career continued on to Arizona State University where he became captain by his sophomore year and maintained
that role until graduation. Four years as a Sun Devil helped prepare the young back for his return to Seattle as he got stitched into club rugby
with the Saracens. A promising first season in the British Columbia Men’s Premiership earned him a spot in the 2019 Seawolves pre-season mix where
he traveled to Vancouver Island to play in the first of two 2019 exhibition wins. With plans to spend time in the Southern Hemisphere, Brennan
took to New Zealand in the spring to compete with Burnside Rugby Club in the Metro Premier Competition in Christchurch. Seattle welcomes Brennan
home once again for the next step in his career in Major League Rugby.
“Growing up playing rugby in the Seattle Area it has always been my dream to represent Seattle at the highest possible level. It has been a pleasure
to watch the Seawolves set the standard for Major League Rugby these past two years, and I can’t wait to contribute to keeping that standard rising,
said Brennan. “I am absolutely thrilled for the opportunity to be a part of this team, and I look forward to the challenge ahead.”
The Seattle Seawolves have assembled for the 2020 season, kicking off with an exhibition match on January 16 at Starfire Stadium versus the Vancouver Island Crimson Tide at 7:00 pm PST. Full season, half season, or single game tickets can be purchased at
