Tavite Lopeti

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Lopeti’s family originally hails from Tonga. One of eight kids, he grew up playing football and basketball, and found rugby in high school when he played for Peninsula Green Rugby Football Club from 2013-16. After graduation, he joined Life West Rugby Club, collecting more time on the pitch before heading to Saint Mary’s College. Lopeti was an exceptional player for the Gaels from 2017-2021, earning 2018 Rookie of the Year and 1st Team All-Conference accolades. Lopeti debuted for the USA Collegiate All-Americans in 2019 and scored a try in their win over the Canada University All-Stars. Lopeti contributed to Life West’s 2019 Club 7s title run, helping the team finish second in the nation. Graduating with a BA in Sociology, Lopeti plans to eventually pursue a career in law enforcement focusing on juvenile delinquency.
