Born in America Samoa, Futi moved to Boise, Idaho and played for the Rexberg Yetis in 2016 who has ties to BYU-Idaho. The young back joined the 43rd State Crimson Lions Rugby, now Boise United Rugby, in 2017 and competed in the D2/D3 PNRFU competitions. Futi moved to Seattle and joined the Seattle Rugby Orcas in 2018, playing in both D1 and Premier matches alike in the BCRU. In 2019, he made his presence felt on the Club 7s circuit with the Westside Ronins and was a member of their Nationals-bound team that summer.
