SEAWOLVES TIE WITH WARRIORS, CAUSE FOUR-WAY TIE IN RACE FOR PLAYOFFS

Sunday, May 26 at 5:00 PM the Seawolves took on the Utah Warriors at home at Starfire Stadium in front of a record-breaking attendance crowd. The Utah
Warriors showed up for battle and managed to force a tie with the Seawolves. There is now a four-way tie for second place in Major League Rugby. Only
one more week remains for the teams to clinch a playoff spot.

KICK OFF: Sunday, May 26 at 5:00 PM PT

Ben Cima kicked off for the Seawolves and moved quickly down the pitch. A successful lineout led to a charging maul and JP Smith was able to peel off the
back and dodged the Warriors defense to sail in for a try. Brock Staller was successful in the conversion so the Seawolves took to the board first,
7-0. The Seawall held strong as Utah attempted to answer back, but when the Warriors sent phases out wide a gap on the edge of the Seawolves defense
allowed them to sneak through for a try, but a missed conversion kept the Seawolves lead, 7-5. Utah continued the pressure with steady movement down
the pitch and spotted another slim gap in the Seawall to slide through another try. A successful conversion gave the Warriors a lead, 7-12. The Seawolves
were stringing phases until the Warriors intercepted and sprinted half of the pitch for another try, 7-19 at minute 18.

20 MINUTES:

The Seawolves were nearing the try line as a successful scrum overtook Utah and the Seawolves were awarded a penalty try. The full seven points brought
the game to 14-19. The Seawolves were called for a penalty which allowed the Warriors to kick for points. The kick was good which increased Utah’s
lead to 14-22 at the 30-minute mark. The Warriors were called for a penalty soon after though and Staller took the opportunity to kick for points.
The kick was good, 17-22. The Warriors kept their momentum by dotting down another wide try but missed the kick, 17-27. A penalty was called on Stephan
Coetzee who was shown a yellow card to close out the first half.

40 MINUTES:

In the second half both teams’ defenses stepped up, and the Seawolves’ offense was unable to make ground.

60 MINUTES:

It wasn’t until a momentum shift from the Seattle reserves that the Seawolves were able to muscle their way to a try by Shalom Suniula. Staller’s conversion
was good to make it a three-point game, 24-27. A string of hard-fought phases led the Seawolves to a penalty call in their favor which allowed Staller
to kick for points and tie the game at 27-27 with three minutes to go. Despite their best efforts, the Seawolves couldn’t manage anymore points for
the win and the game ended in a 27-27 tie.

FINAL SCORE:

Seawolves tie the Utah Warriors, 27-27.
