SEAWOLVES LOSE IN BIG EASY TO LEAGUE LEADERS NOLA GOLD

The Seattle Seawolves were on the road again for week three of Major League Rugby. The Seawolves faced off against NOLA Gold which proved to be a tense matchup between the MLR reigning champions, and the current MLR league leader. NOLA capitalized on their building momentum in a high-scoring win over the Seattle Seawolves.

KICK OFF:
The Seawolves began with strong momentum driving the ball down the pitch into try territory. An offside call on the defense gave Brock Staller a shot at
a penalty kick, and the Seawolves were the first to add points to the board, 3-0 Seawolves in three minutes. The Seawall proved strong as NOLA made
their attempts, but a penalty call for the Seawolves led to NOLA kicking for points and tying it up at 3-3.

20 MINUTES:
Seawolves defense smothered NOLA and showed some great ball handling as Mat Turner charged forward for the first try of the game. Staller converted a wide
kick and brought the Seawolves to 10-3, making it the first lead over NOLA Gold by any team all season. The adversity fired up the NOLA team and quickly
led them to a try and conversion of their own, 10-10. A penalty against the Seawolves led to a penalty try for NOLA Gold, which brought them to 17-10
NOLA as the first half wrapped.

40 MINUTES:
NOLA opened up the second half with a quick penalty kick that extended their lead to 20-10. While the Seawall continued to hold strong, NOLA Gold dug deep
to power through for another try and a powerful surge of Gold momentum as the score raised to 27-10. The Seawolves weren’t done with their fight though,
Eric “The Beast” Duechle charged the ball down the pitch and used their scrum for a big break and Apisai Naikatini dotted down for his first Seawolves
try, 27-17.

60 MINUTES:
NOLA Gold’s defense went into panic as the Seawolves showed their power and Kellen Gordon grounded for another try under the posts making for an easy conversion
for Staller. 27-24 NOLA lead (led) with fifteen minutes to go. Exhaustion began to show on both sides and NOLA Gold capitalized with two quick back-to-back
tries to expand the (their) lead to 41-24 with only six minutes left in the game. The Seawolves dug deep for a surge of energy with a try by Riekert
Hattingh, earning them four-try bonus point, and a score of 41-31 with only a minute left.

80 MINUTES:
The Seawolves charged with an attempt to reach a fourth try, but NOLA Gold was able to shut down the momentum and end the game.
