Seawolves Hunt Past Spirited Seattle Rugby Club in Preseason Opener

TUKWILA WA (January 22, 2022) – The Seattle Seawolves hosted local amateur side, Seattle Rugby Club, in their first preseason contest at Starfire Stadium on a sunny Saturday afternoon. In front of a vibrant crowd, the Seawolves and Orcas both put on a captivating display of rugby as the Major League Rugby side prepares for their 2022 season. Seawolves walked away victorious in the Pacific Northwest clash, 76-8.

• Returning players and new faces to the Club had standout impact throughout the match.
• 2x Team USA Olympian Martin Iosefo, 2021 MLR Draft pick Darrell Williams, and local Washington development player Jeremiah Sio scored debut tries.
• Captain and Number Eight Riekert Hattingh led from the front by scoring a hat trick.
• Rolling substitutions allowed for all members of the 2022 roster, signed and developmental players alike, to get minutes ahead of the season.
• Inside Center Tavite Lopeti carried for an impressive number of meters after contact in the midfield and Fullback Duncan Matthews orchestrated diligent decision making to set up consistent scoring opportunities.
