Seawolves carving out successful corner of Seattle’s pro sports market

That selfie Allen Clarke took with Pete Carroll and other Seahawks coaches? That was no fan pic.
For a brief — well, not that brief — period, those were his co-workers.
Clarke, better known as Clarkie, is the head coach of the Seawolves, Seattle’s Major League Rugby team. And given how successful the Eagles had been with the “tush push” — the nearly unstoppable rugby-style play used for short yardage on third and fourth downs — the Seahawks thought they could use a consult.
So there was Clarkie, at the VMAC toward the end of the 2022 season, or watching film during the offseason, trying to find ways to gain or defend that crucial yard whenever the Seahawks might need to.
They didn’t end up employing the tactic, but Clarkie felt embraced from the start and respected till the end.
