Seawolves Announce Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce Partnership
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Feb. 26, 2018
SEATTLE – The Seattle Seawolves today announced a partnership with the Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce.
“The Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to welcome the area’s first premier professional rugby team to our community. As a proud sponsor
of the inaugural Seawolves season, we hope to spread the rugby spirit and showcase the region as a leading sports destination” said Andrea Reay, President
and CEO of Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce. “Rugby is a fast-paced, dynamic and international sport that we know will fit right into Seattle Southside, a place where our community of sports-loving, loyal and adventure loving fans can cheer together, grab a delicious meal, shop and enjoy unique attractions and outdoor activities. Welcome to your new home, Seawolves!”
The Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit business organization that has served the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park,
SeaTac and Tukwila since 1988. As a leader in the business community, organization’s vision is to shape the future of Southwest King County by
focusing on business advancement and helping to build and maintain a strong regional economy.
“The City of Tukwila is excited to be the home of Seattle’s newest professional sports team, the Seattle Seawolves.” said Mayor of Tukwila, Allan Ekberg.
“Given that rugby is one of the most popular sports in the world, it’s only fitting that Tukwila, one of the most diverse cities in Washington
State, would host the new team. The selection of Starfire Sports as the home facility for the team’s game and practices reinforces the bold vision
the City and Starfire Sports had in 2003 when the campus open. Go Seawolves!”
“We grateful to be backed by the Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce as the Seawolves embark on their first season in Tukwila,” said co-owner Shane
Skinner. “We have a commitment to growing the sport of rugby in the Northwest and to show our fans everything the Seattle Southside region has
to offer. We look forward to sharing our love of this sport with fans new and old across the region.”
The franchise is set for their April 22 season-opener and the first-ever professional rugby match in Seattle. A founding member of Major League Rugby,
the Seattle Seawolves are set to kick-off vs. San Diego Legion at 5 pm/PT at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila. Tickets are available now by visiting
