Seattle Seawolves Sign Back Row Collin Grosse for 2027

The Seattle Seawolves have signed back row forward Collin Grosse for the 2027 Major League Rugby season. The Washington native returns to the Pacific Northwest after four seasons with Old Glory DC, where he scored a try in the opening minute of his MLR debut.

Grosse grew up in Leavenworth until he was about 13, when his family moved to Spokane. He attended Mead High School and still calls Spokane home. With his parents and grandparents in Washington, one of the things he looks forward to most is making it easier for them to watch him play in person.

“Thrilled to be joining the legendary Seawolves organization and move back to the Pacific Northwest to represent my home state. Looking forward to what’s ahead!”

Collin Grosse, Back Row

Grosse took up rugby in high school. Seeing his older brother attend the Naval Academy helped him decide to pursue a service academy education of his own. At West Point, he played lock and helped Army West Point Rugby win its first D1A national championship in 2022.

Old Glory DC selected Grosse 15th overall in the 2022 MLR Collegiate Draft. He made his professional debut against the Chicago Hounds in February 2023 and stayed with Old Glory through the 2026 season. He has played at lock and across the back row, with experience at every forward position from No. 4 through No. 8.

Grosse toured Uruguay with the USA Falcons in 2022 and earned selection to the USA Eagles national team pool in 2023. Through US Military Rugby, he played under Seawolves Head Coach and Director of Rugby Allen Clarke. Grosse also helped coach the forwards at the lineout, working with teammates on their footwork and jumping.

“I’m delighted to welcome Collin and his wife, Sarah, to the Seawolves. Through US Military Rugby, I’ve seen firsthand his character, commitment and quality. Born and raised in the greater Seattle area, he now has the special opportunity to represent his hometown professional club. I’m personally thrilled for both of them and excited to see Collin make his mark in front of his family, friends and community.”
