Mason Pedersen Heads to Seattle
Mason Pedersen has been a key contributor for Austin’s MLR team since 2018 and was MLR’s First XV Player of the Week twice in 2022.
While in college, he played for the Arizona Wildcats, and was a member of the USA Rugby Junior All-American U20s team that went to Zimbabwe to contend for the Junior World Cup Trophy. He also played with the USA Rugby Men’s Collegiate All-Americans in Queensland, Australia, and was selected for the USA Rugby Selects for the Americans Pacific Challenge. In 2017, Pedersen joined the Maccabi USA team that played in the Maccabiah Games in Israel, where he was the co-captain of the Gold Medal winning team.
“Once there was an opportunity to speak to Mason, I jumped at the opportunity. As a ‘Tight-Head’ prop, he comes highly experienced in MLR and driven to succeed at club level so he can realize his ambitions to play for the Eagles XV. Clearly, it’s a no brainer, because he adds tremendous quality and competition to the front row department of the squad. I’m delighted to welcome Mason, and his soon to be wife Morgan, to the Seawolves family,” said Head Coach Allen Clarke.
“After 5 years in Austin I’m excited for a new challenge. The Seawolves have two championships and coming off another championship game appearance appeals to my competitiveness for the sport. I am excited to work with Coach Clarke and everyone else at the Seawolves organization to hunt for a third MLR Shield,” said Pedersen.
Pedersen signed with the Seawolves in the 2022 MLR Dispersal Draft, and he is also a current member of the USA Falcons team.
