RYAN REES, USA EAGLE, JOINS SEATTLE SEAWOLVES
September 14, 2023 (TUKWILA, WASHINGTON) – “I’m delighted to welcome Ryan to the Seawolves family. He adds competition and variation to our scrum half options.” – Head Coach and Director of Rugby, Allen “Clarkie” Clarke
Ryan Rees hails from Austin, TX, where he started playing rugby as a junior in high school. He thought once he graduated high school his rugby days would be over. However, while at a tournament he met a Life University coach and his plans quickly changed.
At Life, Rees won the MVP award and won two National Championships. He was picked up in the 2021 Supplemental Collegiate Draft, signing with Rugby ATL, where he spent the last two years.
In 2022, Rees toured with the USA Falcons XV side to South Africa. Later in the year, Rees made his debut with the USA Eagles against Kenya, winning 68-14.
“I’m super stoked to be joining one of the top teams in the league. I’ve lived in Atlanta for the past 7 years, so moving to Seattle, which is probably as far removed culturally as it is geographically from ATL, is both incredibly exciting and daunting. I look forward to teaming up again with my friend and college teammate Connor Mooneyham and forming new connections and friendships with a new group of guys. Together We Hunt.” – Ryan Rees, Scrum Half
