Charles Elton Signed for Back Row
Charles Elton, a highly skilled New Zealand defender, has signed on for his first MLR season with the Seawolves for 2023. Most recently he played in Sydney, Australia where he was the Eastern Suburbs RUFC’s 2022 Defender of the Year.
In high school, he played for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Rugby Sevens team. After graduation, he spent 5 years on the B squad for Otago Rugby in Dunedin, NZ. He decided to move to North Otago RFU to gain more time and experience on the pitch, and in 2019, he earned Northern Otago’s Player of the Year award after the New Zealand Heartland Championship.
By 2020, his dedication to continuous improvement secured him a spot on the starting squad for the professional union team for Otago Rugby where he played in the New Zealand National Provincial Championship in 2021 and 2022.
“Charles is a dynamic back rower with quality skill sets both sides of the ball and the hard edge to match. His ability to play six, seven or eight adds further depth to our forward unit. We’re delighted to welcome Charles and his partner, Georgia to the Seawolves family,” said Head Coach Allen Clarke.
“I’m really excited to get to Seattle and join the Seawolves. It is an honor to be a part of the most successful team in MLR history,” said Elton.
